“The young men who were here opening and cleaning the pool were just wonderful young men. You must be very proud to have them at your company."

COLONY POOL SERVICE, INC. wants you to have a trouble-free pool season.
Here are a few tips to help you:

  • Be sure to keep your pool water properly balanced at all times. Having the proper pH total alkalinity and calcium harness level will help your sanitizer work to its optimum.

  • Brush your pool walls and floor once a week to help keep the surface smooth and free of algae.

  • Always remember to check your skimmer and pump baskets on a regular basis By keeping your baskets clean, you will be assured in having better filtration.

  • The most common place for a pool leak is on the mouth of a skimmer where concrete meets the plastic skimmer box. This can easily be remedied by using pool putty available at our store and talking to one of our pool professionals.

  • Always add diatomaceous earth (DE) to your DE filter after backwashing. Operating a DE filter without DE powder will clog the filter grids and cause your pressure to rise too quickly.

  • Regular manual cleaning by opening the tank and hosing your grids mid-season is highly recommended.

  • Backwash sand filters once a week or after a good vacuuming. To get the best results from your sand filter, sand should be changed at least every 3-5 years.
